So, you want to get in on the coupon craze without having to spend all that time, well, couponing? I suppose you also want to win an Olympic gold medal without having to spend all that time, you know, training.

It takes time to master the art of saving big money with coupons, but if you don’t have the time or inclination to save big money, you can still save a little money. That is, if you have the time and inclination to save a little money.

In an article entitled “Here’s How You Can Get Really Sweet Savings Without Clipping A Single Coupon”, author Ana Gonzalez Ribeiro offers some time-consuming tips that make clipping coupons sound pretty good in comparison, such as:

  • Like all your favorite brands and stores on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, and among the messages you’ll be inundated with could be an occasional printable coupon.
  • Sign up for texts, e-newsletters and other forms of spam communication from your favorite brands and stores.
  • Fill out surveys at stores where you shop, and maybe they’ll give you a coupon to thank you.
  • Ask your cashier if they can pretty please give you any coupons.

“Are we regular folk able to make the same savings” as extreme couponers, asks the author, “without dedicating our lives to the cause?”

In a word, no.

Get the scissors and the Sunday paper and get to clipping!
