The on-again-off-again appearance of coupons in your Sunday newspaper is off again this week, as there won’t be any inserts this weekend. Save is continuing the every-other-week publication schedule it has followed for most of the year. And SmartSource… is not, exactly.
Save published last week and is expected to return next week. When and whether SmartSource will return is anyone’s guess. SmartSource had also been publishing roughly every other week this year. But after its June 30th edition, it hasn’t published since. This weekend will mark the fourth Sunday in a row without a SmartSource insert – an unprecedented break.
SmartSource publisher Neptune Retail Solutions isn’t saying whether this is just a very long pause that will soon end, or a sign of an even longer – perhaps permanent – pause to come.
