The bad news is, you won’t find any more coupons in your Sunday newspaper this month. But the good news is, you will find timely cash-back offers in your Ibotta app all month.

Today and every Friday this month, you can activate a lucrative Ibotta offer for cash back on the purchase of any brand of eggs. This week’s offer is $2.50, the approximate difference between the national average price for a dozen eggs today and one year ago.

The catch – you must make the purchase and upload your receipt today in order to claim the cash. If you miss it, there will be another egg offer each Friday this month, amounts to be determined.

“Skyrocketing egg prices were not on anyone’s 2025 wish list,” Ibotta said in a blog post announcing the offer. “That’s why we’re covering the price difference for everyone.”

All you have to do is open the app (or download Ibotta if you don’t already have it), activate the offer in the “Any Item” category, go shopping and upload your receipt.

“Once you get your cash back on eggs, don’t stop there!” Ibotta advises. “With over 1,000 daily offers in the app, you can stretch your grocery budget no matter what the prices are.”

It’s coincidental but noteworthy timing that the most buzzworthy grocery offer this week isn’t in your newspaper, but on your phone. So far this year, Save and SmartSource have published only two inserts apiece, about one per month. Neither publisher publicly discusses their schedule, but early indications are that there won’t be another insert from either of them until the beginning of March.

So it’s beginning to look like your weekly Sunday coupon inserts are becoming monthlies.

It’s another sign that digital offers are becoming more timely, relevant and popular than printed coupon inserts. While Sunday coupon inserts have become thinner and less frequent, you can find new offers daily online and in cash-back apps. And with less lead time, digital platforms can be quicker to react to shoppers’ immediate needs.

And some relief from high egg prices is something many shoppers need right about now. A recent survey found that shoppers were willing to pay no more than $4.90 for a dozen eggs. The Ibotta offer could knock that down to $2.40.

So if you have time to swing by the grocery store today, it could pay off. And if you go shopping on Sunday, just remember there’s no need to buy extra newspapers for a few weeks longer. See, you’re saving money already!
