No Sunday Coupon Sneak Peek

The holidays are a great time to gather with family and friends, to be thankful for your blessings – and to pay full price for your groceries.

Of course, that’s not strictly true since there are other ways to save these days besides using the coupons you find in your Sunday newspaper. But for those who do look forward to printed coupons showing up at their doorstep each weekend, don’t look for them this weekend.

Or next!

It’s not unusual for the insert publishers to take a break around Thanksgiving time. So the fact that there will be no coupon inserts this weekend should not come as a huge surprise. But typically, you can count on the coupons returning the following week. For decades, since at least the turn of the century (records get a little spotty before that), there’s never been a two-week break with no coupon inserts both before and after Thanksgiving.

Records, apparently, were made to be broken. These upcoming weekends will mark the sixteenth and seventeenth of the year with no coupon inserts at all, which is already a modern-day record by far. And with the December holidays right around the corner, you can expect more insert-free weekends to come.

In the meantime, you can search our coupon database for additional coupons to tide you over. And be sure to look at the latest cash-back offers from Ibotta, Checkout 51 or Makeena for additional savings, or check out Merryfield or Fetch to see how you can turn your receipts into gift cards!

Mark your calendar for December 8th, then, when both SmartSource and Save are expected to return. And then clip all the coupons you can to hold you over for a while, because there’s a good chance you might be getting a new calendar for 2025 before you get any new coupons in 2024.
