You know those blue envelopes you occasionally get in the mail, filled with coupons and flyers for local carpet-cleaning services, auto shops and restaurants across town that you’ve never been to? Well, now those Valpak envelopes may soon include deals for companies and products that you’ve actually heard of.
Valpak, which focuses on local deals, recently announced its acquisition of Savings.com, which compiles coupons and codes for national merchants like Macy’s, Kohl’s and Old Navy.
So what will this mean for the average consumer?
”We are always looking for new ways to be as relevant to consumers as possible, and ultimately help them make the most of the dollars in their wallet,” says Michael Vivio, the CEO of Valpak’s parent company.
Ok, then. What does Savings.com CEO Loren Bendele have to say? “This acquisition gives us a much deeper relationship.”
All right – so, again, what will this mean for the average consumer?
“What it means for the Valpak brand,” says Vivio, “It’s going to make that experience better.”
Um…
“It’ll get better in that it’ll have national merchants for stuff (consumers) buy every day,” Vivio adds.
Aha! So Valpak will begin including deals for national merchants like Macy’s, Kohl’s and Old Navy, and Savings.com will begin including deals for local carpet-cleaning services, auto shops and restaurants across town that you’ve never been to.
Got it.
