If you’ve been on the edge of your seat, waiting to sign up for Walgreens‘ entry into the loyalty card game, it’s your lucky day. Signup begins today for Walgreens’ “Balance Rewards” on the website Walgreens.com/Balance. The program officially debuts on September 16th; those who pre-enroll beginning today will be entered into a drawing to win a million points, which would translate into about $1250 worth of free merchandise.
Balance Rewards is the first nationwide loyalty program for the country’s largest drug store chain. And Walgreens can only hope that the program helps drum up some interest, and sales. Balance Rewards’ rollout comes on the same day that Walgreens reported its August sales declined 4.5% – marking the sixth straight month of declines.
At any rate, you can read more about Balance Rewards here: (“Drug Stores Duel For Your Devotion”), and in the below fact sheet provided by Walgreens. If you do sign up, note the “use it or lose it” provisions in the fine print: “Should any Balance Rewards Member not earn or redeem Points for 6 consecutive calendar months, the membership will be deemed to be inactive and all accumulated Points will be forfeited. For active Members, all Balance Rewards Points expire on a rolling 36 month basis.”
I just did?
I have a Balance Reward card and just spent $68.69. I received a stub saying I need to sign up in order not to lose my Cash rewards $9.00 today plus other
cash rewards in my account.
What do I have to do?
