Printed coupon inserts have stuck around longer than many had predicted. With digital coupon use on the rise, and newspaper readership on the decline, using Sunday newspapers as a distribution method for paper coupons seems increasingly old-fashioned.
But the format still has its backers, among manufacturers and coupon users alike. So as long as some interest remains, it appears printed Sunday coupon inserts will keep coming.
Just not as many of them.
There are no coupon inserts expected this weekend, for the second Sunday in a row. It’s not unusual lately for both SmartSource and Save to take a mid-January break, but it’s unprecedented for both of them to take two weeks off this early in the year.
The good news is that Save had a lot of coupons in its most recent edition back on January 5th, and most of those coupons have yet to expire. SmartSource, in contrast, had an extremely small January 5th edition, so it may well be that there simply aren’t enough offers to warrant more frequent publication.
In the meantime, you can search our coupon database for additional coupons to tide you over. And be sure to look at the latest cash-back offers from Ibotta, Checkout 51 or Makeena for additional savings, or check out Merryfield or Fetch to see how you can turn your receipts into gift cards!
Then watch for the inserts to return later this month. And don’t be too quick to toss them when you’re done going through them – with fewer new insert coupons coming to replenish your supply, you never know when you’re going to wish you still had those older ones handy.
