Another holiday, another insert-free weekend. There won’t be any coupons in this Sunday’s newspaper, as SmartSource and Save take an Independence Day holiday break.
While it’s not unusual for the two coupon publishers to take this holiday off, Procter & Gamble used to publish its brandSAVER around this time each year. But once P&G quit publishing its brandSAVER insert earlier this year, Independence Day weekend can now go on the calendar as a coupon-free weekend.
Last year, there were four weekends with no inserts at all. The year before, there were only two insert-free weekends. This year, so far, this is the sixth weekend without any coupon inserts. And we’re only halfway through the year.
