In what’s becoming an increasingly common occurrence, there will be no coupon inserts in your Sunday newspaper this weekend. Both SmartSource and Save will be taking the week off, four weeks after they last took a breather together.
That makes this mid-August Sunday another new coupon-free date that didn’t used to be. Save started taking a mid-August break in 2021, but SmartSource hasn’t until now.
This now marks the eighth weekend so far this year without any coupon inserts, double the insert-free total in all of 2022, and quadruple the insert-free total of 2021. Might that figure increase again very soon? Labor Day is just around the corner, and the insert publishers often take that weekend off – though Save has surprised us in the past by issuing a Labor Day weekend edition. So we’ll have to see what Save has planned this year.
