According to a new survey from Consumer Reports that ranks 62 of the country's top grocery chains, these 16 are at the very bottom of the list.

We've flipped the list on its head, to rank the stores from the bottom up. So, in order from bad to worst, here are the stores that more than 50,000 respondents said they were least impressed with, and why - with some help from the wonderfully snarky and brutally honest reviewers on Yelp.com.

6. Safeway

Another Albertsons-owned chain (notice a trend?)

“Safeway just seems to be going downhill in general,” a Yelp reviewer writes.

Consumer Reports readers don’t like Safeway’s prices, and hate its checkout. “Get used to lines that wrap around and back up through the aisles,” a Yelp reviewer agrees. “On the plus side, they finally took down the lying signs proclaiming they will open another checkout if there were 3 or more people waiting in line,” a third shopper adds.

Another reviewer doesn’t just dislike Safeway – he’s offended by it: “I abhor businesses that devalue their customers in the manner that Safeway does… Safeway exploits the personal time of its customers with the notorious lines and delays that go along with shopping there, and they do it with impunity.”

Well, take that, Safeway.
