According to a new survey from Consumer Reports that ranks 62 of the country's top grocery chains, these 16 are at the very bottom of the list.

We've flipped the list on its head, to rank the stores from the bottom up. So, in order from bad to worst, here are the stores that more than 50,000 respondents said they were least impressed with, and why - with some help from the wonderfully snarky and brutally honest reviewers on Yelp.com.

Finally the worst of the worst. Surprised?

Walmart reclaims its position at the bottom of the grocery barrel, only because the previous “winner” Waldbaums has since gone bankrupt along with the rest of the A&P chain.

And the vote for Walmart was decisive. It earned the worst possible rating in seven out of twelve of Consumer Reports’ categories – cleanliness, staff courtesy, checkout, produce quality, produce variety, meat/poultry quality and local product quality.

Its best rating was for its prices. So shoppers may claim to hate Walmart, but as long as it keeps offering those low prices, the worst grocery store in the country is apparently good enough.
