It started as a grocery rewards app. Now Fetch is taking further steps toward its goal of becoming a “rewards-for-everything” app.
The points-for-purchases platform has added the ability to earn points redeemable for gift cards while doing everything from filling up your car, to eating out, to sitting at home watching TV.
The most recent update is a partnership with PDI Technologies, which now allows Fetch to offer gas rewards. “By scanning their receipts for gas and grab-and-go goodies, drivers can turn fuel-ups into their favorite gift cards,” Fetch announced.
Fetch users already earn 25 base points for scanning just about any receipt from any retailer. But now, receipts from fuel or convenience store purchases can earn you more. “Users now have access to a curated selection of offers that reward them for gassing up and buying goodies from an expanded retailer network nationwide,” Fetch spokesperson Sara Osborne told Coupons in the News. You’ll have to look in your app to see what specific offers are available to you and where, since “Fetch personalizes the rewards experience on an individual basis,” Osborne explained.
The new fuel rewards come on the heels of an expanded ability to earn restaurant rewards, not just at national chains, but at local establishments. That comes via another partnership with the restaurant loyalty platform Rewards Network. Nearly 18,000 locally-owned restaurants are part of the Rewards Network. If you dine at one of them and upload your receipt to Fetch, you’ll be able to earn more than the 25-point minimum. Once again, you’ll have to check your app for specific offers in your area.
But perhaps the most interesting new partnership that Fetch has announced is with the data analytics company Kochava. That will allow you to earn Fetch points simply by watching TV.
Fetch is powering Kochava’s new Loyalty+ program for its streaming service partners. Loyalty+ members will be able to earn Fetch points just for interacting with participating streaming services – for signing up, for watching a new show, for completing a series, or returning for new releases. Kochava says nearly half of streaming subscribers cancel their service within six months of signing up. “Keeping and engaging subscribers is the biggest challenge facing the streaming industry,” the company says, so offering rewards like Fetch points is designed to keep subscribers engaged.
“With this move, Fetch continues to reward consumers for not only how they spend their money, but also how they spend their time,” Fetch explained. That was also the thinking behind the introduction about a year and half ago of Fetch Play, which rewards users for playing mobile games.
“Fetch is on a mission to become the universal rewards platform – bringing value to both brands and consumers across every category,” Fetch’s Head of Corporate Business Development Daniel Block said in a statement. Whether you’re buying groceries, filling up, eating out or watching TV, “Fetch is making it easier to turn those everyday moments into tangible rewards.”
Little more than a decade ago, the best way to save money while shopping was clipping coupons. Now, the once-novel idea of scanning your receipts to be rewarded is novel no longer. And at least one savings app apparently won’t rest until it can reward you for doing nearly everything – no coupon-clipping required.
